Disenchanted
Rating:👌
Disillusioned with life in the city, feeling out of place in suburbia, and frustrated that her happily ever after hasn’t been so easy to find, Giselle turns to the magic of Andalasia for help. Accidentally transforming the entire town into a real-life fairy tale and placing her family’s future happiness in jeopardy, she must race against time to reverse the spell and determine what happily ever after truly means to her and her family.
I feel like this movie should have had a series of sequels to it a long time ago. And I can't believe that its taken over ten years for them to finally make one.
Is this as good as the first one? No and I never expected it to be. Especially since Disney sent it straight to its streaming service. But I did like the storyline, it's not something that we haven't seen before. (Leaving the big city for the small quiet town.) And it did reminded me of the show 'Once Upon a Time', with certain people of the town representing familiar fairy tale characters. But the stand out performance is once again Amy Adams who is fantastic in this role. I forget that Adams really is a triple threat, she can act, dance and sing. That is a rare breed nowadays in Hollywood. And I hope she is given more chances to show that off.
I'm not a musical fan and I will admit that at certain times when they broke into song I would check out or fast forward. The only other thing I didn't care for was the quality of the animation. It looks cheap and for a Disney movie it doesn't even seem to be done in the classic Disney princess style, but a knock-off animated movie from the 90s.
I think fans of the original will enjoy this long awaited sequel. If for nothing else I would say watch it for Adams performance alone. Her switching from Princess personality to Evil Step-Mother is hilarious and shows her skills as an actress.
